Took a little hiatus to enjoy the company of family and a few sunny days. So I am now sunburnt, windburnt and have been out on the boat and got soaked. We had some repair work done on the motor and it was fun to get out and fly on the river. I took lots of pictures too.. that is until I had to hide my camera from the spray!
I used to have an incredible memory... I now have an incredible amount of notes! I'm not sure if as we get older we forget more or if we just have that much more to remember. The reality is no matter how good our memory is we will eventually forget something.
July Picture Inspiration(6): Take a picture of your friends or family enjoying a outdoor pastime. Be it a ball game, riding bikes, sailing, skipping rope or just sunning. Have fun, get out there and write now!

Family Visits...
I have family from away visiting; my sister and her husband. I am thrilled that they are here. Nothing like a family visit or a family reunion to kindle the hunt for pictures. Everyone around the kitchen or dinning room table sharing stories and flipping through pictures. Who tells the stories... overtime who remembers the stories... and sometimes stories are forgotten.
We all have a reason that we start scrapbooking. Mine began with a love to try anything crafty that was "new." So new in fact that there were few supplies on the market with the exception of 8X11 1/2 paper, corner rounders and gel pens. My interest did fizzle for a while but I had a friend who kept on asking if I had picked it back up or not. Then she started sending me copies of pages by mail and then by fax. She was my Scrapbook Angel! About the same time both of my parents were sick and hospitalized. I had a baby, Christmas was coming, suddenly I was worried that my youngest may never get to know his grandparents. So I returned to scrapbooking because I realized that besides pictures someone had to record the story. Scrapbooker, Photographer, Storyteller, regardless of where you begin what matters is the Memories Shared!
So lets get started! Here is the basic equipment that you will need:
- paper trimmer -precision tip scissors
-pencil - white eraser
-see thru ruler - glue stick
-tape runner -black pen to journal with
** cardstock ** pattern paper
** Unless you plan to hoard paper it is best to choose paper as you go.
July Picture Inspiration (5): Gather all your pictures together and take a picture of the heap. Are they all on disk, in photo envelopes, plastic tubs or all over the house? In the days a head we will organize these but for now I just want you to record where you started... the beginning of your scrapbooking story. Oh yes, and 5 words only that describe what all these picture are about!
Let me inspire you!

Your Creative License...
Why is that some jobs just seem to take forever? I have needed new tile for my front entrance way for quite some time. Ever since I came home from a trip to find that my husband had used his circular saw to cut away the sub floor; tile and all! Don't be too alarmed, he really is very handy and always completes what he starts. I have had my mind set on a Mariners Compass since that very day. Wanting one and finding one I have dicovered are two different things. I finally gave in and decided to buy something more readily available; only to find that it was not available. Then it happened, my husband suggested that we have a friend, who is an interior decorator, pick out the tile. "And give up my creative license?" I gasped.
So what exactly is a creative license? Maybe you are reading this and thinking to yourself "I am not creative!" I believe differently. I believe everyone is inherently creative, the only thing that separates what you think of yourself right now and "being creative" is your way of thinking; not your ability! So right now I am giving you your creative license! Remember, it is your license, you get to choose what you do with it. I guarantee whenever you use it you will nurture a spirit within, that spirit will grow and you will learn to trust it. The more you trust it the happier you will be. Your creativity will flow into all parts of your life! Before long you will understand why it is such a big deal for me to let someone else decide the color of my floor. My husband, on the otherhand may not understand it, but loves me for whatever "it" is regardless.
July Picture Inspiration(3): I want you to look around your abode and take a picture of something that you have used your hands to create. Maybe it is a cake that you baked and decorated, possibly a picture you doodled, flowers you arranged or simply a combination of furniture that you grouped togther. You hands have allready been at work... you had a creative license all along! Oh yes, you don't get off that easy, 5 words please that explain how you feel about what you created.

Can't Change the Weather...
I woke up my eldest this morning and he moaned "Can't it just be sunny for one day!" It's true; the weather has been mainly overcast and raining for the past two weeks. Enough pouring from the sky that you wonder how it can rain for that many days straight. But it is warm outside and there is something special about a warm summer rain...
Do you remember what you did when you were a child and it rained for days? May have only been hours but it felt like days. When I was growing up, the street in front of our house was chipsealed. I loved being outside in my bare feet! Much to my father's embarrassment and my mother's dismay. So much so that as far as I was concerned shoes were what I wore to church like my "Sunday Bests." When there was a warm rain I couldn't wait to get outside. I loved to go out on the street and squish the tar bubbles between my toes! I know....eeeew!
July Picture Inspiration (2): Grab your camera and go outside and take a picture of your house! Yes, before you cut the grass and water the flowers, clean the windows and sweep the doorstep. Oh, and in case you haven't caught on yet... write down 5 words that come to mind about what makes this house your home.
Let me inspire you!
